Bombardier Business Aircraft has teamed with SmartSky to offer the SmartSky 4G LTE-based network on in-service Learjets, Challengers and Globals. Bombardier’s service center network will sell and install the equipment for SmartSky 4G, a new network that is set to become operational later this year. SmartSky uses 4G beamforming technology and 60MHz of spectrum on an air-to-ground platform to provide more than 10 times the typical speed and capacity of most available networks. The network provides a range of web and communication capabilities from videoconferencing and streaming to gaming, calling and text.
Through the partnership, SmartSky 4G will be offered on in-service Bombardier aircraft over the continental U.S. and can complement Bombardier Wave, which provides Internet connectivity on Globals with seamless worldwide coverage through a dedicated satellite network.
“This is the airborne network experience our customers have been waiting for,” said Chris Milligan, v-p, services sales and authorized service facilities, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “We’re excited to provide this level of connectivity, supporting all in-flight communication and entertainment needs.” SmartSky is offering “Early Bird” incentives for initial Bombardier customers.
