The Bombardier Global 7000 business jet will shortly launch the world’s largest private jet and we take a look inside.
Highlights of this uber luxury jet include extra-large windows—nearly twice as big as those in other Global jets; a formal dining area that seats six; a master suite with a full-size shower; a full galley; a video theatre; and real wood parquet floors. At 60-foot this private jet is the largest of any true business jet
Having flown it’s first test flight near Toronto in November 2016, Bombardier said its prototype reached a speed of 240 knots or about 276 miles per hour and an altitude of 20,000 feet as pilots tested the jet’s controls. When it begins flying in the second half of 2018, it will cruise as high as 51,000 feet, at 92.5% of the speed of sound and seat up to 17. Each one costs $72.8 million.
The jet will fly up to 7,400 nautical miles at a slower speed with eight passengers and four crew aboard. That will connect New York with Shanghai or London with Buenos Aires, and is further than a much-larger Boeing or Airbus airliner can fly with 300 passengers.
Bombardier hopes the Global 7000 will stimulate demand in a crowded market. U.S. rival Gulfstream and France’s Dassault are also fighting for wealthy buyers of the biggest business jets. Dassault delivered its first Falcon 8X in October and Savannah, Georgia-based Gulfstream has been selling its close equivalent, the G650 since 2012 which has a range of 7,500 nautical miles non-stop. Whoever wins the race, the pictures show that Bombardier’s Global offers a spacious and opulent experience for the luxury traveller.
