World Aero repairs 16,000th component at its EASA/FAA Part-145 wheel & brake repair facility

Aircraft wheel and brake MRO World Aero this week celebrates processing its 16,000th component at its EASA/FAA/TCCA certified wheel and brake repair facility. World Aero carried out this work on a Messier-Bugatti-Dowty main wheel for the Boeing 787-8, for one of the world’s leading flag-carrier airlines.

Concentrating predominantly on the overhaul of wheel and brake products, the World Aero workshop routinely delivers in excess of 130 wheel and brake units per week at its purpose built facility. The custom-designed facility comprises seven energy efficient industrial units laid out in a modular fashion specifically for wheel and brake repair and overhaul. Their West Sussex location close to London’s Gatwick, Heathrow and City airports, and easily accessible from London, is key to the business, allowing it to service a number of the world’s largest aircraft spares support organisations, including AJW Aviation.

World Aero was initially established in 1999 as an aircraft maintenance, consultancy and training provider, before becoming an MRO facility in 2008 to offer wheel and brake maintenance and repair services. The Company has seen rapid growth in the eight years since becoming an MRO, from servicing 600 wheels and brakes in 2009 to over 3,700 in 2015. In April 2016, the Company achievedFAA Part-145 Repair Station certification, adding to its EASA and TCCA certification and sealing its credentials as a globally recognised wheel and brake repair facility.

World Aero’s capability list contains a wide variety of wheel and brake part numbers, and in addition to Messier-Bugatti-Dowty units, the Company services products from Honeywell, Meggitt, and UTCAerospace Systems (Goodrich) applicable to commercial, regional and corporate aircraft. World Aero delivers services to a wide range of customers, from individual private jet owners, through small operators, and up to Europe’s largest single airline.
