Nepal Airlines has chosen AJW Aviation to provide full power-by-the-hour services for its current fleet of A320s. As part of the long-term agreement AJW will also locate extensive main base kit at the Nepal Airlines’ facilities at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and at their operational centre in Singapore, taking advantage of AJW’s strategic hub strategy across South Asia.
The power-by-the-hour contract for Nepal Airlines’ two new A320 aircraft commences with immediate effect and it represents a ground-breaking change for the airline. In the pursuit of greater efficiency, leaner processes and improved profitability, the Board of Directors decided for the first time since the airline’s origins as Royal Nepal almost sixty years ago, to explore a new operational strategy.
Deepak Sharma, Chief Technical Officer – AJW Group, highlights AJW’s experience with global PBHprogrammes and the organisation’s focus on driving down direct maintenance costs as the catalysts behind Nepal Airlines’ decision. “The sealed Tender process was rigorously controlled by the airline’s Board. Important factors in AJW’s success were competitive pricing of course, but also the decades of component support that we have delivered to aid the successful running of the airline and its expansion of both international and domestic routes.
“Another important factor for Nepal Airlines is AJW’s commitment to placing rotable inventory in Kathmandu alongside regional support from our Singapore hub” Sharma adds. “They will have their own exclusive stock of A320 spares ensuring premium service and minimising AOGs. AJW’s single-minded focus on transforming aviation efficiency has ensured we are the right choice of support partner for Nepal Airlines. We currently support 69% of global fleet operators with appropriate Airbus and Boeing aircraft types and this is fully underpinned by AJW Technique, the organisation’s component repair and overhaul facility in Montreal, where streamlined processes minimise repair turn-times and further guarantee our airline customers’ dispatch reliability.”
AJW’s new contract with Nepal Airlines is further evidence of the Company’s focus on the AsiaPAC region and it is proud to serve another national flag carrier, alongside distinguished fellow operators such as Air New Zealand, Turkish Airlines, Azerbaijan Airline, Egyptair and MIAT Mongolia, all of which recognise the outstanding value for money and excellent customer service that is embodied within a power-by-the-hour agreement. AJW now has a global fleet of over 900 aircraft under contract and provides a wide and flexible range of component coverage options.
