Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) announced today the successful completion of the CRJ200 SF maiden flight. AEI reported no conversion related issues and with weather permitting, the smoke barrier test flight will occur on Friday, July 15th. The test flights mark the final stages in the overall certification process, of which AEI expects FAA certification to follow imminently. As announced earlier in the program; Waterford, Michigan based IFL Group is the launch customer for the CRJ200 SF and new orders continue to remain strong. AEI currently has 45 firm orders and commitments. The conformity CRJ200 SF aircraft was modified by Miami, Florida based Commercial Jet.
The AEI CRJ200 SF is the only passenger to freighter conversion product that offers operators two separate Cargo Loading System options: eight 61.5” x 88” or eight 62” x 88” ULD positions. This unique capability is achievable due to AEI’s Large 94” x 77” Main Deck Cargo Door. Depending upon the model and aircraft weight limits, the CRJ200 SF will have a main deck payload of up to 14,840 LB (6,731 KG). The aircraft also incorporates up to two supernumerary seats and houses a 9g rigid cargo/smoke barrier with sliding door.
When combined with proven reliability, the AEI Converted CRJ200 SF will allow operators to keep their aircraft – “In the air, generating revenue”.
