TAG Farnborough Airport has been presented with a Silver 'Green Apple Award' by The Green Organisation at a ceremony held at The House of Commons this month.  The Green Apple Environment Awards, is an annual international campaign designed to recognise and encourage environmental best practice around the world.

TAG Farnborough Airport received the Silver Award in recognition of its commitment to reducing environmental impact and continuous improvement through best practice.  In particular, the award acknowledges the innovative sustainable staff travel plan which encourages employees at the airport to adopt low or zero carbon travel such as cycling, the use of public transport and car sharing.  Additionally the scheme addresses staff movement around the airport site through investment in company electric vehicles, e-bikes and more traditional pedal bikes.

Miles Thomas, TAG Farnborough Airport Environment manager said, "Recognition by The Green Organisation for our sustainable staff travel plan is important because it highlights TAG Farnborough Airport's holistic attitude to reducing its impact on the environment.  We are committed to a sustainable approach for management and development of the Airport and through our work in reducing our carbon footprint, we are on track to achieve our goal of Airport Carbon Accreditation at the 'Neutrality' level by 2019."

Other energy efficiency initiatives adopted by TAG Farnborough Airport include investment in site based solar energy, specialised hangar heating systems and low energy lighting both internally and externally across the airfield.
