SmartSky Networks left no doubt it is the leader in air-to-ground connectivity at its July 29th experience day in Wichita, KS. Demonstration flights using its patented beamforming technology wowed participants with multi-gigabyte per hour data transfer across more than 10 devices on each flight. Experienced aviation professionals and novice flyers alike used the system to simultaneously stream videos, connect with friends and get some work done among the smiles and laughs.
SmartSky VP Marketing Brit Wanick, commented: “The day is really a first for business aviation. With Global Aviation Technologies, we created a unique event that allowed our partners and customers to experience the power of SmartSky’s network firsthand before making a purchase - does anyone else do that? It was great to see the smiles of those stepping off every flight, each trying to outdo the other with all the things they could do on the jet’s WiFi inflight.”
Global Aviation Technologies is a privately owned, FAA certified maintenance and repair facility servicing charter, private jet, and general aviation operators. Partnering with SmartSky Networks in January 2022, Global Aviation Technologies organized the event to showcase this unique try-before-you-buy opportunity and bring awareness to a new standard in ATG connectivity.
Adds Global Aviation Technologies VP of Operations, Jerome Cottner, “Firsthand knowledge gives our team and our customers confidence and perspective. With the SmartSky experience as a baseline it’s hard to think that our customers would be happy with any other connectivity solution.”
SmartSky’s patented nationwide network and innovative antennas use 60 MHz of unlicensed spectrum to deliver consistent, responsive data flow to and from the aircraft for passengers, flight crews, and aircraft operations. Tailoring of advanced 5G technologies, such as beamforming and software-defined-networking, enables single-beam connections with each aircraft and seamless hand-off between towers even in the higher interference environments above urban areas. The resulting throughput and security create an unmatched experience for business aviation travelers and operators.
With STCs complete for many popular business aviation aircraft, SmartSky’s partners such as Global Aviation Technologies are installing the Company’s innovative hardware on individual and fleet aircraft. Additional STCs for more aircraft types are nearing completion with the FAA, and customers have their choice of service plans.
