Aircraft operators and flight departments will have access to an end-to-end aircraft management solution through mobile devices, tablets and web browsers as a result of a recently signed agreement between Rockwell Collins and Stellar Labs.

Under the agreement, the companies will co-develop a next-generation flight operations management platform, based on Rockwell Collins’ ARINCDirect® Flight Operations System (FOS®), to create an all-new, easy-to-use system in the cloud. For operators wanting to add revenue management, optimization, collaboration and marketplace charter, the system will seamlessly integrate with Stellar Labs’ commercial solutions.

“This vision will transform the industry,” said Dave Poltorak, vice president, Business and Government Aviation for Rockwell Collins. “It addresses the growing demand for flight departments, aircraft management operators, FBOs, maintenance and crews to work together—even across company lines. Our new approach with Stellar Labs makes this possible by creating a cloud-based global system that supports fast, robust and highly secure collaboration at every level.”

Today, business aviation data is stored in thousands of traditional, disparate systems. The new platform will eliminate that issue by leveraging Stellar’s cloud infrastructure and replicated data centers and the industry benchmark features of ARINCDirect FOS.

Rockwell Collins will continue to support and maintain the current FOS application until the new platform meets the operational requirements of current FOS customers. As the new system develops, features will become available to current FOS users, allowing them to take advantage of the advanced capabilities Stellar and Rockwell Collins are creating in this new infrastructure. Future integration with ARINCDirect flight services and international trip support will further enhance operational efficiency and provide operators with an unmatched suite of services.

In addition to the flight operations management capabilities, the new platform will support revenue management, automated quoting, optimization, marketplace charter and payments.

"From day one we decided to bring together the best computer scientists and architects in Silicon Valley to build a transformative platform for business aviation," said Paul Touw, CEO and Chairman of Stellar Labs. “It’s exciting to see Rockwell Collins not only validate our technology, but join forces with our efforts. Working together we will be able to innovate much faster.”

Rockwell Collins and Stellar Labs will demonstrate the new platform at the National Business Aviation Association Conference and Exhibition, Nov. 1 – 3, in Orlando.
