Avflight announced all 22 eligible FBOs in its U.S.-based network are now certified as Green Aviation Business – Tier 1 under NATA’s Sustainability Standard for Aviation Businesses. This announcement marks the first time Avflight has received this designation and further illustrates the company’s overall commitment to sustainability. Avflight’s U.S.-based network comprises 23 locations in whole—its recently-acquired Avflight Hattiesburg (KPIB) FBO will apply for certification in the year to come once it has 12 months’ worth of data to submit as required.

Garrett Hain, vice president of finance and treasurer for Avflight, commented: “Sustainability is at the forefront of Avflight’s values, and we are immensely proud of this achievement. To have one of our locations certified is exciting; but for all 22 eligible U.S. locations to hold the title is a major accomplishment and amplifies our commitment to sustainability. At Avflight, we continuously look for ways to decrease our network’s footprint—whether it's in our operations or the solutions we offer our customers—and always strive to be on the leading edge of sustainability initiatives."

As part of the tier 1 certification process, all 22 Avflight locations established a baseline carbon footprint, submitted an environmental policy, phased out single-use products in kitchen/dining areas, and confirmed utilization of the following: a local recycling program; paperless processes; LED lighting; a filtered water fill station; motion-sensor lighting; energy-star rated kitchen appliances; and low-flow plumbing fixtures.

The NATA certification supports Avflight’s broader, network-wide initiative to promote sustainable aviation operations and is an exciting addition to other ongoing measures, including working with BETA Technologies to install electric charging stations in key locations.
