United Airlines, the airline offering the most nonstop flights from New York/Newark and the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, is adding daily trans-Atlantic summer-season service between:
New York/Newark and Athens, Greece, from May 25 through Oct. 5, 2016
Washington/Dulles and Barcelona, Spain, from May 25 through Sept. 6, 2016
Washington/Dulles and Lisbon, Portugal, May 25 through Sept. 6, 2016
All services are subject to government approval.
“United continues to add routes where our customers want to travel, when they want to travel,” said Brian Znotins, United’s vice president of network. “These new flights during Europe’s peak-summer travel season will provide additional access to Athens, Barcelona and Lisbon from hundreds of points we serve throughout North America, Latin America and the Caribbean.”
New York/Newark to Athens
United’s daily nonstop service between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Athens (ATH) will operate using Boeing 767-300 aircraft.
Washington/Dulles to Barcelona
The nonstop flights between Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Barcelona (BCN) will operate daily with Boeing 767-400 aircraft.
United has served Spain for more than 20 years, and this new service complements the airline’s existing year-round flights to both Barcelona and Madrid from New York/Newark.
Washington/Dulles to Lisbon
The airline will use Boeing 757-200 aircraft for flights between Washington/Dulles and Lisbon (LIS).
These flights are in addition to United’s existing year-round service to Lisbon from New York/Newark. In 2016, United will mark 19 years of Lisbon service.
As scheduled, aircraft operating Newark-Athens, Washington-Barcelona and Washington-Lisbon flights will offer modern interiors with personal on-demand entertainment at every seat, Wi-Fi, in-seat power throughout the aircraft and multi-course meals in United BusinessFirst and United Economy. Customers in United BusinessFirst also enjoy the comfort of flat-bed seats.
United in New York/New Jersey
United and United Express offer nearly 500 daily departures from the New York/Newark area to more than 150 destinations – the most in North America, the most across the Atlantic, the most across the Pacific and the most to and from Latin America.
United also offers the most flat-bed seats and extra-legroom economy-class seating from the New York area.
United’s Washington/Dulles Hub
United, together with United Express, operates nearly 225 flights daily from its Washington/Dulles hub to destinations throughout the United States and to Europe, Asia, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean.
