Indonesia has tightened security at airports across the country because of an increased terrorist threat, the Transport Ministry said on Wednesday.

"The alert level has been upgraded from green to yellow because of the heightened threat to civil aviation," ministry spokesman Julius Barata said.

He said there was no specific intelligence information about an impending attack.

The policy was taken after recent terrorist attacks overseas, including the alleged bombing that destroyed a Russian Metrojet airliner over Egypt, he said.
