Two Jet Airways flight attendants have been injured in Tuesday’s explosions at Brussels Airport, a source has told Gulf News.

Explosions were heard at the airport at 8am Belgium time on Tuesday shattering glass at the terminal building, AFP reported quoting Belgian media.

“Two Jet [Airways] crew injured but stable. All Jet [Airways] passengers are safe and in a holding area,” a source with knowledge of the matter told Gulf News.

The source identified the injured crew members but Gulf News has declined to publish their names until confirming with the airline.

In a statement to Gulf News, Jet Airways confirmed two of its staff were injured in the blasts  and are receiving medical care. The airline was not able to immediately confirm the identities of the injured crew members.

Jet Airways also confirmed Brussels Authorities have moved its passengers and crew to a “safe location” in the airport.

“At this time passengers and staff have been cordoned off and are not allowed to access the airport terminals. Jet Airways staff and crew are safe,” the statement said.

Jet Airways flight 9W 228 from Mumbai landed at Brussels Airport at 7:11am Belgium time on Tuesday while Delhi flight 9W 230 landed at 8.08am. It is unclear whether the injured crew came from either of these flights or were on the way to board other services. Brussels is the Indian airline’s European hub. The airline on Tuesday cancelled a number of services from the airport.

A third explosion was reported in the Belgium capital at the Maelbeek metro station. At least 21 have been killed in the three blasts and more than 35 have been injured, according to reports.

Emirates’ flight to Brussels on Tuesday has been diverted to Dusseldorf in Germany. Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways both have aircraft at the airport.

Etihad and Qatar Airways have confirmed to Gulf News their passengers and crew are safe
