A DISUSED BOEING 767 has finally reached its new home in Enniscrone, Co Sligo – after a mammoth effort that lasted until the early hours.

The plane, which was making its way from Shannon Airport via barge, was brought ashore last night.

Undertaker David McGowan’s plan to make the plane the centrepiece of his transport-themed glamping village in Enniscrone has received a lot of attention in recent weeks, with people coming from all over Ireland to see his dream realised.

Crowds of people lined the streets of the seaside village until the early hours of this morning. The move was delayed for several hours due to wind and tide issues.

After being pulled to shore, the plane was lifted by crane onto a truck, before being driven to the glamping site.

Today FM’s Anton Savage Show has been following McGowan’s journey and was on hand to watch the move.

McGowan previously told TheJournal.ie how much he appreciated the support he has received from the public.

“I wanted to get people thinking differently, moving on from the depression country was in,” he said.
