Chinese low-cost carrier Spring Airlines has entered the Japanese hotel sector.
The Shanghai-based company unveiled its new Spring Sunny Hotel brand on October 28, as part of a joint venture with Sun Frontier Fudousan, a Japanese real estate management company.
The first Spring Sunny Hotel is expected to launch in Nagoya in the first half of 2016. Longer term plans include the opening of 20 new properties over the next five years, located in Tokyo, Osaka and other Japanese cities on Spring Airlines' route map.
Spring Sunny Hotels will provide "Oriental charm" and a "Japanese experience" for guests, according to the company. In addition to normal hotel rooms, its Nagoya property will feature traditional Japanese rooms with tatami mats and family suites for up to four guests. The hotel's restaurant will serve Japanese, Chinese and western food.
Bookings are available on Spring Airlines' website and mobile app.
