October 2021 airBaltic celebrates its 26th anniversary since the launch of commercial operations.

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic: “Since the pandemic began, airBaltic has undergone significant transformation, accelerating change that is necessary for future growth. We have achieved major milestones over the past 26 years and we are well equipped to come out of this crisis even stronger than before. We are thankful to our employees, passengers and partners for being with us together on this journey.”

The airline was established in the early autumn of 1995 with the signing of a joint venture between the Latvian state and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). On October 1, airBaltic operated its first commercial flight, from Riga to Stockholm, with the Saab SF340 aircraft.
