Passengers of a Saudia flight en route to Jordan were evacuated just before take-off after a cabin crew member opened the evacuation slide by accident.

Flight 637 from the Saudi capital Riyadh to Amman was about to take off when a steward opened a door by accident, causing the evacuation slide to open.

"The passengers were told to leave the aircraft and return to the airport terminal after the accident."

"They were allowed back on board after more than an hour," said the Saudi Arabic language daily "Sada", which published pictures of the plane.
