Iberia has taken delivery of its second new Airbus A330-200, called “Buenos Aires” in honour of the first destination reached by Iberia when it first launched Spain-Latin America services just 70 years ago.

Flying to Latin America since 1946

In 1946, Iberia became the first European airline to link Europe and Latin America with a flight from Madrid to the Argentine capital, stopping in Brazil and Uruguay.

Seven decades later the airline boasts a total of more than 250 flights per week between Europe and 20 destinations in 15 Latin American countries.

The efficient Airbus A330-200

The most modern aircraft in the Iberia fleet, the A330-200 is very fuel-efficient, meaning its exhaust emissions are also lower average.

The two engines powering the Airbus A330-200 MTOW 242 Tn enable it to take off with a weight of up to 242 tonnes, and to fly up to 11,500 kilometres without refuelling, making it suitable for Iberia’s longest routes such as Madrid to Buenos Aires or Montevideo, or those to Tokyo and Shanghai, which are to be launched later this year.
