A Gulf Air flight carrying 219 people to Bahrain from Manila suffered an engine fire on take-off last morning but landed safely in the Philippine capital after turning back

The A330-200 appeared to start a grass fire at the edge of the runway as it took off according to reports and smoke was seen inside the cabin after the plane was airborne, according to Manila spokesperson. 
"Gulf Air confirms that it's flight number GF155 from Manila to Bahrain morning of  5th August 2016 suffered from an engine failure in one of the engines right after take off at 1305 Manila local time," the Bahraini airline said on Twitter.
"The aircraft landed safely and all passengers disembarked the aircraft. The aircraft is now attended by engineers and shall resume back to Bahrain once inspected fully."
