Reported By Passenger
I just heard from a friend of mine (who reads the blog) that the pilot on her British Airways flight today pulled off a pretty remarkable feat. In the words of Nicole:
I’m on this flight linked below and I though if you had a space to fill in an upcoming post you could give a shout out to the amazing crew. I honestly would have never known we landed with 3 of 5 wheels if they hadn’t told us. The captain did a great job not just of landing but keeping everyone calm. We are still onboard slowing exiting so as not to tip the plane. It was a bit unnerving but everything worked out.
Here’s more of the story, though there aren’t a ton of details yet:
The passenger plane declared a ‘pan pan pan’ and emergency on board saying there was no immediate danger to life.
The plane was held at 9,000 ft and dumped fuel before landing at around 5.30pm.
It looks like it’s already too dark to get a sense of which landing gear didn’t deploy. There’s one report from someone nearby that the landing gear did deploy but it was too dark to be sure. At any rate, it sounds like the pilot did a great job making sure the passengers and crew were able to return safely.
Thanks for sharing, Nicole!
