An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N969NN performing flight AA-1027 from Chicago O'Hare, IL to Orlando, FL (U.S.), was on final approach to Orlando's runway 36L about 5 nm before touch down when a bird impacted the left hand engine (CFM56), all engine parameters remained normal. The crew continued for a safe landing on runway 36L about 2 minutes later.
A borescopic inspection revealed remains of the bird had been ingested into the engine requiring further inspections, a nose cone needed replacement, too.
