Snow Cancels Flights at Beijing Capital Airport
Hundreds of flights have been delayed or cancelled on Friday morning as snow sweeps across north China and heavy rain continues in south China.
Flight operations have been disturbed Friday morning by snowfall at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), heavy fog at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport (XIY) and Kunming Changshui International Airport (KMG), and freezing fog at Yinchuan Hedong International Airport (INC) and Urumqi Diwopu International Airport (URC), according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
Snowfall cut the efficiency of flights in and out of Beijing Capital International Airport by 30%.
Beijing Capital International Airport says de-icing of aircraft is underway before takeoff. The snowfall will last until 2:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Passengers are advised to check the status of their flights before heading to the airports.
