Qantas to Move to Terminal 1 at Shanghai Pudong Airport from Oct. 25
Qantas Airways Limited (QF) will move its operations from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) beginning October 25, Shanghai Airport Authority (SAA) said in a statement on Wednesday.
Qantas signed a joint venture agreement with China Eastern Airlines (MU) in November 2014. A key benefit of the agreement will be the co-location of both carriers' operations in Terminal 1 at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
Qantas said the co-location with China Eastern will cut transit times by about an hour, open up a better range of onward connections and provide more choice for customers. The joint venture was authorized by the the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in August 2015.
According to the statement, all Qantas' flights will depart and arrive out of Terminal 1 at Shanghai Pudong Airport from 0:00 a.m. October 25.
If the airline's flights scheduled to depart or arrive on October 24 are delayed to the next day, operations will still be at Terminal 2. Passengers will be notified in the event of any changes.
Travelers are advised to keep a close eye on their flight status shown on the terminal screen and follow guide signs in the airport.
There are shuttle buses between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 every 10 minutes. During the first couple of days, both the airline and the airport will have employees stationed at the two terminals and the shuttle bus stops to assist travelers and make the shift as smooth as possible.
