Beijing Capital Airport Sets New Record in Daily Flights
Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) operated a total of 1,915 flights on September 25, creating a new record for daily aircraft movements since the airport opened.
The new figure, breaking the previous single-day record of 1,831 flight movements set in April, exceeded the daily average of 1,600 movements by 14.4 percent.
Hundreds of flights were cancelled or delayed at Beijing airport on Sep. 24, due to heavy rain. On Sep. 25, the airport initiated emergency responds to handle affected flights and transport stranded passengers.
Besides, several incidents occurred on the same day, including a bird strike on Qatar Airways flight 895, a division of Uzbekistan Airlines flight 146 due to left-hand engine failure and go-around of China Postal Airlines flight 9102 and Okay Airways flight 2874.
